Who am I?
I am Bonita, an Aram Sei volunteer and I have been with Aram Sei since 2014. When I am not volunteering or working, I am busy parenting and being a typical, over-scheduled Bay Area mom to two amazing girls.
The beginning
My parents have always served as my inspiration for giving back to the community since I grew up watching them steadfastly striving to do their bit – be it helping the household help’s kids stay in school or being annual blood donors to never turning away the needy. I had been exposed to a few sporadic community service events in the past, but Aram Sei gave me the platform I sought, to help work on causes close to my heart. I was both, elated and excited to be a part of their mission. I remember being intrigued when I figured I could turn community service into a family affair after observing the other young volunteering families.
The odyssey
I take pride in thinking that I have been able to put in my time (in a big or small way) for all our fundraising events in these past four years. As one of the program coordinators for SPARK, our signature event, I have enjoyed brainstorming and working together with my fellow volunteers to ensure great content and thought-provoking experiences for the children in and around the Silicon Valley. Another highlight was to work on a never-before kind of fundraising Carnatic music multimedia show with Smt. Anuradha Sridhar, an accomplished musician & Guru of Carnatic music, and her students. It was truly fulfilling to witness the sheer delight in everyone’s faces as they enjoyed the lilting songs while contributing toward Aram Sei’s projects.
The destination
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” – Paulo Coelho in The Alchemist. I want to make this world a better place to live in, for everyone. My family and I are rooted in the pursuit of a better tomorrow for the future generations to come.
